BRUIXES LAB
Bruixes_Lab is a nomadic laboratory where biohacking and witchcraft rituals are performed to create speculative scenarios around intimacy and pleasure, aiming to destigmatize taboos surrounding sexuality. It is an interactive space where intimate biotechnology, transfeminist perspectives, and DIY practices merge in symbiosis with biophilia and sensory technologies to enhance erotical self-pleasure, open a dialogue to reclaim bodily autonomy and explore sexuality through technology.
The collective is a collaborative initiative founded in 2023 by Giulia Tomasello and Cristina Dezi, interactive designers both engaged in the realms of intimate technology, biohacker projects, and witchcraft practices. They have conducted workshops, exhibitions, and collaborations internationally, including Ars Electronica, MU Hybrid House, III Instruments Inventors, TTT (Taboo-Transgression-Transcendence) and many other artistic-scientific institutions and festivals.
During their workshops, participants gain hands-on experience on soft electronics and sexual circuitry and experiment on growing biofabrics from algae and body fluids.
Through bio-hacking practices and do-it-yourself technologies, we speculate collectively on alternative and sustainable futures in the realm of intimate technologies, leading to the prototyping of unique wearable sensual devices.
Participants will discover open-source fabrication techniques for the design of sexual technologies and imagine how biotechnologies and alternative materials can be used as a means to explore erotic pleasures.
From exploring the process of growing biofabrics and second skins, biohacking and erotic self-exploration to learning electronics, actuators and sensors and how to incorporate them into soft surfaces and biotissues to prototype the final wearable designs.
